About Us

St Ives Surf Life Saving Club was originally formed in 1958 and reformed in 1997. The club has evolved over the years and has seen many people come and go but it has never lost its strong links with the local community!

We are proud members of Surf Life Saving Cornwall and the Surf Life Saving Association of Great Britain (SLSGB), Britain’s National Governing Body for Beach Lifeguarding and the sport of Surf Life Saving.

Our Club operates as a Charitable organisation from the west side of Porthmeor Beach and is run by a dedicated team of volunteers! We are a friendly club and actively encourage people from all walks of life to “have a go” and get involved - whether you are 7 years old or 70 years old a warm welcome awaits you!

St Ives Surf Life Saving Club have an amazing, always growing,  group of members who regularly train ready to compete at a constantly high level, not only local events and Cornish competitions but also in National Surf Life Saving Competitions.

What does it mean to us?

What does it mean to us? Well in short Everything! Not only are we training and learning an essential life skill we are also having fun!

As a club we create great community bonds and fantastic life long friendships, but we also learn to save lives!

Living in such a stunning coastal location our community rely on Lifeguards and the RNLI, and what a great way to prepare for those valuable roles, we gain the basic knowledge of the sea to take forward and protect and patrol our glorious beaches.
