With the St Ives Biathlon sponsored by John Fowler Holidays creeping up on us, we are fortunate to have the local press and media behind us and we thought it nice to share the coverage that they have given us to date. St Ives Surf Life Saving Club competed in and won the Cornish Stillwater Nipper Championships at Penzance Leisure Centre, over the weekends of 10th and 17th February. The club took a 56-strong squad to the Frostbite Competition over the consecutive weekends and competed against 14 other Cornish clubs in the competition, to grab the top spot in Cornwall. Happy New Year Everyone!! At 11am this morning, people started to gather on West Side of Porthmeor Beach for the New Years Day Dip! Young and Old(er) all stripped off to swimming costumes, vests, jammers and funky trunks to take a quick dip in the Atantic. There is a new fun quiz to assist with fundraising this year. Lots of festive images have been placed around the town in shop windows, restaurants etc. Take a walk around St Ives over the New Year period and see if you can spot all 20 festive cards. You need to spot them and write the location of where you have seen each one. As a club and registered charity, we rely on businesses within our local community to help and support us throughout the year. These businesses, in addition to the annual biathlon, donate prizes for ad hoc raffles and Christmas draws and provide us with other fundraising opportunities e.g. collecting in their shops or bag packing so we are able to raise much needed funds for the club. On Saturday 28th October, the St Ives Community Charter was launched and St Ives Surf Life Saving Club was proud to be a part of it.
